¶ Primes
As new systems were discovered at the termini of aetherstreams, the accompanying planets were often full of resources, and possessing an atmosphere ideal for suopporting life native to Earth. These planets became called Prime worlds, and its star system called Prime systems.
The first aetherstream discovered led to a system with a lush garden world that was named Eden. It is now called Eden Prime, and the entire system is called the Eden Prime system. Gates that lead to it are called Eden Gates. Collectively, all Prime worlds are called "the Primes." If someone says they are travelling to Eden, for example, it is commonly understood that they are travelling to the planet Eden Prime.
When the first Primes were colonized, it seemed like humanity would have all the room it needed. However, explorers, prospectors, and others were constantly on the move, using the jump drive to explore and exploit all the stars around the prime, creating a “cluster” of populated star systems.
Prime systems are typically heavily populated and boast the highest levels of social and technological development in human history.
¶ Clusters
A Cluster is a group of star systems within aetherjump range that spreads out from each Prime system. These systems may not contain any planets, serving solely as waypoints for further exploration. Others contain planets, asteroids, gas giants, and other resources that can be harvested. A few of these plents may even have their own life, but the environments may be diffuicult to survive without special equipment or modification. All of these systems comprise the Prime Cluster, though not all are as developed as the Prime itself.
