This talent measures the peer’s investment into their familiar and the Familiar Spirit rank is analagous to (but not the same as) the Strength Rating of a “free” spirit. This talent’s maximum rank is 12 and costs Master tier to advance. The Familiar Spirit rank cannot exceed the adept’s highest Thread Weaving rank. This talent cannot be learned without the Familiar knack.
A peer and their familiar share a telepathic link as long as they are within Familiar rank ×10 yards. This functions across astral/physical boundaries. The communication is silent and requires no more effort than forming the words in one’s mind. It only functions between the familiar and their peer. See Familiar Advancement for additional benefits per rank.
<The peer and familiar must go through some ordeal together which helps define and build their mutual connection. At least one month must pass between each advancement. Faster than this risks permanent damage to the familiar spirit’s pattern as they don’t have time to adjust to and be comfortable with their new strength.>
This talent cannot be learned without the Familiar Spirit knack. When the adept learns and performs the ritual in the knack, they learn this talent automatically at rank 1.
The familiar gains +1 to each selected advancement characteristic per Familiar Spirit rank. They also gain +5 Death Rating each rank. These both include the first rank.
Once the peer reaches the indicated Familiar talent ranks, their familiar undergoes a change and becomes notably more powerful. This always has an affect on their appearance, reflecting the changes and increased prowess. It may also affect their personality.
The spirit gains the following benefits for each +1 Attribute Step, in addition to improving their powers:
None.
